Celebrities line-up to support the opening of Birmingham’s newest free school

A host of famous faces have helped launch Birmingham’s newest free school, Perry Beeches IV.

Celebrities included comedian Jasper Carrot, Chef Rustie Lee, TV presenter Bev Bevan and England’s first black footballer, Cyrille Regis.

They presided over the opening of the fourth school run by the Perry Beeches Academy Trust. Situated in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter, the new school is already oversubscribed with 134 students applying for 100 year 7 places.

Rustie said: “Perry Beeches is great and Birmingham deserves the best. I’ve been around the school, met parents and the children.

“They are so happy and doing so well in the school. I am proud of our city and the education we can provide.”
