Consider the best MIS for your school!

According to a recent survey of 2,146 schools across England carried out by Finnemore Consulting, just over 14% of respondents said they were either ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to move to a new MIS supplier in 2022.

To help get started RM has created a practical 11-step guide, taking readers, step-by-step through the process of selecting and implementing a new MIS.  The 11 steps to consider:

  • Identify your reasons for considering changing your MIS
  • Research the best school management information systems and providers
  • Understand the process of change
  • Identify internal process and procedures for procuring a new MIS
  • Examine your current contract with your supplier
  • Review your budget for MIS and connected software
  • Consider whether to use a cloud-based MIS or server-based MIS
  • Involving stakeholders in the process
  • Check what support is available from the MIS suppliers, and what form it takes
  • Do you have any third-party solutions you use with your current MIS, and will they work once you change?
  • Does your MIS allow you to comply with Ofsted and the DfE’s requirements?

“Any school who has not reviewed their MIS system for a while should do so now.  There are so many other options out there, and you may be pleasantly surprised both with the functionality and the cost savings you can make”.  Emma Richardson, School Business Manager, St Nicolas CE Infants School, Wallingford
