Get ready to mark your calendars because National School Sports Week is back for 2024, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! powered by Monster Kickabout from Sports Direct, this year’s celebration promises to ignite the field with passion, energy, and the spirit of football.

What is National School Sports Week?

From 17 – 23 June, National School Sports Week will once again take centre stage, dedicated to promoting the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of children and young people through 60 minutes a day of PE, sport, and play. Since its inception in 2008, National School Sports Week has been the heartbeat of promoting PE, physical activity, and school sports, helping to nurture young talents to reach their full potential.

Why participate?

Participating in National School Sports Week isn’t just about scoring goals or winning races; it’s about fostering a culture of health, wellbeing, and inclusivity within your school community. By getting involved, you’ll not only encourage your students to lead healthier, more active lives but also promote teamwork, leadership, and resilience—all essential skills for success in school and beyond.

The Benefits for Your School

Wondering what’s in it for you? By registering for National School Sports Week, your school will gain FREE access to a treasure trove of resources, lesson plans, and activity ideas co-created by Youth Sport Trust, Sports Direct, and the brilliant minds from North Kent College. Plus, thanks to our partnership with Sports Direct, you’ll receive free equipment and gear to help bring your activities to life.

“We’re delighted to be launching National School Sports Week in partnership with Sports Direct for 2024. With Monster Kickabout as the theme, we want to use the backdrop of the Euros, Olympics, and Paralympics this summer to inspire children to not only kick footballs but play fun games like kick-tennis and foot-golf! It promises to be an amazing, fun-filled week.”

Fundraising for a Cause

But wait, there’s more! National School Sports Week isn’t just about getting active; it’s also an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people across the country. Throughout the week, we encourage schools to participate in fundraising activities to support the Youth Sport Trust’s mission of using the power of play and sport to change lives. Whether it’s a sponsored run, a bake sale, or a fun sports-themed event, every contribution counts!

Sports Star Friday

One highlight of National School Sports Week is Sports Star Friday, a special day dedicated to celebrating young people’s love for sport and play. On Friday, June 21st, we invite schools to organise a sporty-themed dress-up day, where students can come dressed as their favourite sporting heroes or don their sports gear and participate in fun activities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase school spirit, promote physical activity, and raise funds for a great cause!
