St Martin’s School in Brentwood, Essex, is celebrating its best ever results, with more than a quarter of the grades awarded coming in either at A* or A.

A total of 60.2 per cent of A-level students achieved A* to B grades, with 86.9 per cent securing A* to C.

A whopping 99.4 per cent of students achieved grades A* to E.

One of the sixth form’s best students, Morwenna Gibbs, achieved four A* grades in economics, maths, further maths and psychology, and she will now move on to an apprenticeship with the consulting giant Deloitte.

A fellow student, Jessica Duffy, achieved three A*s in English literature, government & politics and psychology, and will read English literature and language at Oxford.

Mrs Siobhan Howells, the head of the school’s sixth form, said: “This year’s results are incredible and all the students should be congratulated on the hard work and dedication they have shown towards their studies.

“Their commitment throughout the two years has been admirable and we are so proud of their achievement. I wish them all the best in their next steps – well done!”
