A student from Ormiston Park Academy in Essex, who has cerebral palsy, is celebrating overcoming adversity after she achieved her child development qualification.
Despite her severe disability, Abbie Smart (pictured) persevered over the last three years to achieve the result, which is equivalent to three A-levels at CCC.
After receiving her results today Abbie said: “I worked really hard over these past three years, and it has paid off. I am proud of what I have achieved and I will miss everyone at school, but know that the next part of my life is starting.”
Huw Derrick, principal at Ormiston Park Academy, said: “We are all very proud of Abbie, she has put in outstanding efforts over the last three years, and deserves this fantastic achievement. We wish her all the best in the future.”
She HAS cerebral palsy. She doesn’t SUFFER from it.
Excellent effort Abbie!
