Pupil premium student Teofil Aleksandrov (pictured), who arrived from Bulgaria aged 12, has scored two A*’s in maths and furthers maths and a B in physics, which sends him to Cambridge university.
The Harris Academy Battersea student will study maths and physics at the prestigious institution which is thought to be beyond the reach of most disadvantaged pupils.
David Moody, principal of Harris Academy Battersea, said: “Teofil is an excellent student and it is quite beautiful to watch him at work.
“He is on a completely different level academically but extremely humble and unassuming with it.
“He has achieved a huge amount at just 16 years old and we’re really looking forward to following his future.”
That’s because he got his basic training in Bulgaria.
