Resolute Sam battles through learning difficulties to achieve university dream

“Beloved” Sam Jones from Ash Green school in Coventry has secured a place at Harper Adams university despite suffering from learning difficulties.

The 18-year-old was left disappointed with his AS results just a year ago but he didn’t let that falter him.

With the help of Ash Green’s pastoral manager, Hannah Shuttleworth, Sam (pictured) selected different courses and managed to complete BTEC business and applied science in one year.

Along with a C grade A-level in geography this was enough to get him through to university where he will aim to achieve his goal of completing a degree in geography.

Shuttleworth said Sam’s grades are a “reflection of his hard work and commitment and the staff at Ash Green are delighted with his achievement. We wish him all the luck at Harper and will miss him dearly”.
