Uplands Community College pupil Megan Pitt has struggled with severe ulcerative colitis throughout her time at the school, but today achieved 9 GCSEs all between A* and B – a testament to her work ethic.
With the support of her mum and the school, she has been able to work through her difficulties to achieve her fantastic result. Megan was able to work on a flexible timetable in order to help her get the best out of her studies, despite her time in class being severely limited due to suffering from her chronic illness.
Liam Collins, headteacher of Uplands Community College, said: “We are so proud of Megan and her determination to not let her illness get the better of her. She has worked her socks off and thoroughly deserves the results she has gained.”
Megan will be returning to the college to study A-levels in psychology, biology and English literature.
