Lucy Elliot-Brown is celebrating after securing a place at the University of East Anglia to study nursing after achieving her school’s first ever A* in English literature.
The 18-year-old, who attended Westlands school, a secondary modern in Kent, also gained an A in media studies, B in biology and C in history.
Lucy took part in the school’s expedition to India this summer to work with disadvantaged children. She says this was a “fantastic opportunity, which she will never forget” and praised the sixth form team which “helped her gain skills to manage my time, organise my studies, and achieve my potential”.
Simon Cox, Westland’s headteacher, said: “Lucy is a dedicated and hardworking student, and her outstanding results are a testament to this. We could not be more proud.”
