Ormiston Bushfield academy in Peterborough is collaborating with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to host a specialist Saturday music school. The academy, part of the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), launched the collaboration as part of the organisation’s aim to get all its 25,000 students involved in a range of cultural, outdoor and sporting opportunities. The Peterborough Centre for Young Musicians aims to open up routes into music education, and will be available to young people throughout the area. A bursary scheme will allow students from all backgrounds to attend. Dennis Kirwan, principal at Ormiston Bushfield academy, said: “This is a wonderful way to help young people – whatever their background – use their curiosity and creativity to find new ways of achieving their potential and to have the confidence, drive and resilience to follow their dreams.
